I can't show "originals" for this one, because I made it pretty much completely from scratch. The client didn't actually end up using this concept, which is why it's somewhat unfinished (take for example the fact that all the streets and freeways run into the sea).
For this image, first I created the map (including the water), which I then flattened and split into 4 parts. I transformed and arranged them as the four panels you see here, added a little shadow, and presto.
If you look closely, you'll notice some references to Kabbalah in the street names. Here's one: the 10 ("interstate") alludes to the ten attributes.
